Over 1.5 years, we developed and delivered an immersive afterschool program in partnership with several IB (International Baccalaureate) schools in Shenzhen. The program, called VR Book Club, combined literacy development, project-based learning, and immersive technology into a structured 60-minute class format.

Each session included:

Storytime Reading (20 minutes)
Guided reading of original children’s books (Lexile 350–400), designed to build vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.

Hands-On Project-Based Activity (30 minutes)
Interactive word games, flashcards, PowerPoint challenges, drawing activities, trivia, and creative crafts aligned to the story theme.

Immersive VR Experience (10 minutes)
A curated Meta Quest experience that reinforced the story’s theme

Program Details:

28 original children’s books & over 150 project activities (authored and designed in-house)

Designed for Grades 1–5

8–10 students per class

Semester or quarter format (1–2 sessions per week)

Strong focus on engagement, spoken English, and creative thinking

Reading Level:

Estimated Lexile range 450L–850L across the series (CEFR A2–B1 / WIDA 2–5), designed for Grades 1–6 ESL learners, featuring high-dialogue narrative structure, strong Tier 1–2 vocabulary scaffolding, and embedded comprehension prompts to support fluency, oral language development, and content-based instruction (SEL + STEM integration).
